Key Background:

In a strategic move to enhance its cloud capabilities, IBM has launched Neudesic, its U.S.-based Microsoft cloud consulting brand, in Australia. Neudesic, acquired by IBM in 2022, will be led locally by John Hanna, the former managing director of SXiQ. Neudesic’s Australian expansion aligns with IBM’s focus on hybrid cloud and AI services under the leadership of CEO Arvind Krishna.

Founded in 2002 and headquartered in California, Neudesic is a leading provider of cloud and AI strategy, implementation, and managed services built on the Microsoft Azure platform. The company employs over 2,500 people across the U.S. and India, delivering comprehensive solutions designed to help clients accelerate their digital transformation.

This expansion into Australia follows IBM’s acquisition of SXiQ, an Australian cloud and Azure specialist, during its global acquisition spree. SXiQ has since been integrated into IBM Consulting, with Hanna appointed to oversee Neudesic’s growth in the Australian market. According to Hanna, the launch of Neudesic will provide Australian businesses with a dedicated Microsoft Azure partner, offering enhanced capabilities for their digital transformation efforts.

Neudesic’s Australian operations will offer a broad suite of services, including cloud infrastructure, application innovation, data and AI, and business strategy and transformation. The company is particularly targeting ASX200 companies in industries such as financial services, manufacturing, and energy and utilities. IBM Consulting Australia managing partner, David Ellis, emphasized that the launch would significantly expand IBM’s targeted business portfolio, further strengthening its presence in an underserved market.

Ellis, who joined IBM from Bain & Company, highlighted the importance of Microsoft Azure in helping clients modernize and innovate. Neudesic’s entry into the Australian market is expected to advance IBM’s strategy for Microsoft Azure in the region. This move also follows IBM’s introduction of its ‘watsonx’ AI platform in Australia, hosted in the company’s Sydney data center, further solidifying its commitment to providing cutting-edge cloud and AI services in the region.
