Sales of Semiconductor Increased
The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) announced today that global semiconductor industry sales were $47.4 billion in August 2022, a 0.1% increase over the August 2021 total of $47.3 billion but a 3.4% decrease from the July 2022 total of $49.0 billion.
Every month sales are compiled by the (WSTS) organization and represent a three-month moving average for top companies. SIA accounts for 99% of the US industry and nearly two-thirds of non-US chip firms in terms of revenue.
John Neuffer, SIA president and CEO said, “Global sales growth has stalled in recent months, and month-to-month sales decreased in August by the largest percentage since February 2019.” He further added, “Sales into Europe paced all regional markets, while sales into China saw the sharpest declines.”
